About

After the Covid daze, Old Carter Barn's dynamic duo, Douglas Carter Beane (five-time TONY-nominated playwright) and Lewis Flinn (Broadway composer), reached out to Dan Tompkins of the North Branch Art Trail to see if their freshly renovated barn could be transformed into a concert space. Their goal? To showcase local talent and create a place where audiences would actually listen.

While the barn quickly became a go-to wedding venue (check out www.oldcarterbarn.com for all the details), juggling over 40 events a season turned out to be more than Beane and Flinn bargained for! But after three years of trial, error, and a whole lot of learning, they’re excited to re-introduce Summer Sessions as a program of the "Old Carter Barn Arts Initiative" – a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to bringing the arts to Northeastern Pennsylvania!
